As a future communications practitioner, you’ll want to be prepared to do all things comms – including acting as a media spokesperson. Scenario days are a great way to do this in a fun and safe environment. You’ll come to the studio and participate in an on-camera interview with a journalist. You’ll know the topic ahead of time; the situation will parallel a real news story. All questions are on the table, so it is important to practice. The journalist may be grumpy, confrontational, uninformed or misinformed but you’ll need to respond appropriately.

Each of your scenarios will last five minutes. Our intended learning objective with this exercise is a low-risk opportunity for you to participate in what is typically a high-risk scenario
